🌈 ACHM: Weather Report & Future Courses

Our last newsletter reported that we were in the throes of an El Nino powered drought …
In the face of unprecedented weather challenges, ACHM have been called upon to  demonstrate the resilience and adaptability enabled by the practice of Holistic Managment. Battling the adverse effects of El Niño, our conservancy in northwestern Zimbabwe found itself grappling with a staggering rainfall deficit earlier in the year. With only 240 mm of rain received by April 10th, far below our (declining by the year) 600-700 mm, the situation was truly dire. However, in a twist of fate, nature has intervened with unexpected generosity! A regional event gave us an unexpected 110 mm of rain, defying historical records dating back six decades!
While this gift may not salvage the crops or significantly bolster forage for animals regionally, its value lies in replenishing the water table and temporarily quelling the threat of wildfires. This event has underscored the immense value of our holistic management practices in navigating environmental uncertainties, as we see on our own landbase at Dimbangombe, and the local communities that we work with as compared to adjasecent land bases in the communities not engaged in Holistic Managment, and other private and National Parks land.

4 different land bases, under 4 different forms of managment on the same day! Chobe National Park (Botswana), Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe), communal lands and Dimbangombe Conservancy, managed Holistically
We invite you to explore further with ACHM as we continue our mission of education and empowerment. Community Facilitators Training Programme
Holistic Planned Grazing and Herding
Community & Environment Revitalization tour

24 June – 6 July 2024
This is the program that enables implementation of Holistic Land & Livestock Management within the communities that organizations serve. This is a 12-day in-depth program for community facilitators. It empowers organizations to best serve their communities, with support from ACHM staff who can provide program monitoring for the organization and mentoring support to the trained facilitators.

24 June – 6 July 2024
We understand the aspirations of small-scale farmers longing for abundant grazing and water resources. While numerous factors contribute to your capacity to generate ample forage and water for your livestock, there are cost-effective methods to significantly enhance grass yield, supporting more animals and aiding water retention in the soil. This, in turn, fosters environmental and community regeneration.

17-20 July
An all-encompassing introduction to the potential of Holistic Management
This introduction is a thought provoking insight into both community and environmental regeneration. It is ideal for organisation leaders and for curious visitors that would like a deeper introduction & understanding of Holistic Management.
